Dan Procter M.D., F.A.C.S.

 

Dr. Daniel Procter is board certified in critical care, peripheral vascular surgery and general surgery with expertise in bariatric surgery.  In 2000, after eight years of private practice in Gainesville as a general and vascular surgeon at Northeast Georgia Surgical Associates, he founded The Vascular Disease Institute and ObesitySolutions. Dr. Procter was an honors graduate of West Georgia College and earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he held positions as Chief of Peripheral Vascular Surgery, Chief of General Surgery and Director of Surgical Intensive Care at Wright Patterson USAF Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. He served as Chief of Trauma and Emergency Surgical Services, Co-director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and Co-director of Critical Care Fellowship at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in Texas. He completed a fellowship in peripheral vascular surgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He has participated in several investigative protocols for vascular surgery and has had articles published on vascular surgery, morbid obesity and trauma care. His personal interests include trips to the mountains with his wife, spending time with his grandchildren, and golf.

 

 


 

 

Robert Richard, M.D., F.A.C.S.

 

With a special interest in advanced laparoscopic procedures, Dr. Robert Richard joined the surgical team at The Vascular Disease Institute / ObesitySolutions in 2002.  Dr. Richard earned his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his surgical internship and residency at Harvard University’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He has had specialized training in laser procedures, laparoscopic bariatric surgery and a mini trauma fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. As a veteran of the United States Army, Dr Richard provided general abdominal, thoracic and advanced laparoscopic surgical care as well as diagnostic endoscopy at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. While there, he established a multidisciplinary bariatric surgical program. He also served as the senior trauma surgeon on the 101st Airborne Division’s rapidly deployable forward surgical team. Shortly after 9/11/2001 Dr Richard served in the Afghanistan Theater of operation as the senior trauma surgeon. In 2004 Dr Richard was again called to serve as a trauma surgeon in the US Army, where he spent 4 months deployed to Iraq. He is married with two young daughters and enjoys spending time with his family which involves youth soccer games and regular family golf outings.

 

 


 

 

Charles D. Procter, Jr., M.D., F.A.C.S.

 
Dr. Procter earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, after completing his bachelor of science degree at University of Georgia. His first college degree, a BA from Miami University of Ohio, led him to be a senior analyst for the Russian Business Information Center in Washington, D.C., and Moscow, Russia for a year before entering medical school. Dr. Procter was awarded “Intern of the Year” at the University of Kentucky and has had numerous medical articles published. Dr. Procter and his wife enjoy spending time with their two young children, Charles and Kiran.

Dr. Procter is board-certified in General Surgery.
