Venous Duplex Imaging
Duplex scanning of veins utilizes ultrasound to determine the anatomy, direction of blood flow and to assess for abnormal valve function. With ultrasound technology the physician is better able to diagnose underlying problems and devise a treatment plan tailored to a patient’s individual needs. This is critical to achieve the best long-term cosmetic and therapeutic result. VeinSolutions provides on-site testing at the VeinSolutions Vascular Lab. The registered vascular technologists have been specifically trained by our vascular surgeons. The test is non-invasive, no preparation is needed and it takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete. Venous duplex scanning is typically covered by most insurance companies.
Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is an injection treatment used to eliminate "spider" veins and small to medium-size varicose veins. A solution is injected into the problem vein with a very fine needle. The vein wall becomes irritated. Subsequent application of external compression with dressings and prescription-gradient compression hose seals the vein wall together. The body breaks down the damaged vein and absorbs it, ultimately eliminating the problem vein. No pre-treatment patient preparation is needed and most patients describe minimal discomfort. After treatment patients resume normal activities, but are asked to avoid prolonged sitting and standing for 3 days and heavy exercise (weight lifting, running and high impact aerobics) for one week. Walking is encouraged after the treatments. Prescription-gradient compression hose are worn for 8 days after each treatment.
Laser Therapy
Laser for Leg and facial spider veins
Current technology provides us with the ability to treat both facial and leg veins effectively with laser energy. This is a safe, quick, effective form of therapy that involves virtually no down time for the patient. The treatment is quite effective with the minimal discomfort in most cases. The side affects and complications in general are quite minimal.
Endovenous Laser Ablation (ELVeS) For Varicose Veins
We offer a state-of-the-art Endovenous laser treatment for lower extremity venous insufficiency (Endo Laser Vein System) ELVeS™. This procedure is performed in the office with local anesthesia. Down time is usually only two to four days. The side affects and potential complications are minimal. In our practice this technology has, in large part. replaced vein stripping.
Enhanced Facial Rejuvenation (Laserscope Gemini™)
This is a combination of procedures that provides a no down time skin rejuvenation process to reduce facial wrinkles and fine lines, treat sun damage, including age spots and brown pigmentation, treat rosacea and facial spider veins. There is virtually no recovery time. The patients return to normal activities immediately. The procedure is safe for the face, neck, chest and hands - anywhere sun damage shows.
Enhance skin rejuvenation is a non-ablative, non-invasive procedure. The surface of the skin is not damaged or removed. The laser corrects pigmentation irregularities and encourages new collagen growth to soften facial wrinkles.
Minimally Invasive Treatment
Minimally invasive surgery may be used for larger varicose veins to achieve both the desired cosmetic results and to relieve symptoms such as aching, swelling and pain caused by leg varicosities. Today's surgical techniques for varicose veins require minimal incisions and are performed on an outpatient basis with average recovery time of one week or less. Meticulous effort is made to achieve optimal cosmetic and therapeutic results.
