Venous Duplex Imaging
Duplex scanning of veins utilizes ultrasound to determine the anatomy, direction of blood flow and to assess for abnormal valve function. With ultrasound technology the physician is better able to diagnose underlying problems and devise a treatment plan tailored to a patient’s individual needs. This is critical to achieve the best long-term cosmetic and therapeutic result. We provide on-site testing at the VeinSolutions Vascular Lab. Registered vascular technologists have been specifically trained for this purpose and can provide a wide variety of not only venous but arterial evaluations. These tests are non-invasive. No preparation is needed and it takes approximately 20 to 40 minutes to complete. Venous duplex scanning is typically covered by most insurance programs.
Endovenous Laser Ablation (ELVeS) For Varicose Veins
We offer a state-of-the-art endovenous laser ablation treatment for lower extremity venous insufficiency (Endo Laser Vein System - ELVeS™). This procedure is performed in the office with local anesthesia. Typical down time is two to four days. The side effects and potential complications are minimal. This technology has completely replaced vein stripping in our practice and provides our patients with a minimally invasive alternative to surgery. Ambulatory Phelbectomy
Ambulatory phlebectomy is an office-based procedure done with local anesthesia for removal of painful and unsightly medium and large sized varicose veins. It is frequently done in conjunction with endovenous laser abalation or as a staged adjunct to this procedure based on patient needs. The procedure is minimally invasive, provides excellent cosmetic results, and involves only two or three days of down time for the patient. Sclerotherapy
Sclerotherapy is an injection treatment used to eliminate "spider" veins and small to medium-size varicose veins. A solution is injected into the problem vein with a very fine needle. The vein wall becomes irritated. Subsequent application of external compression with dressings and prescription-gradient compression hose seals the vein wall together. The body breaks down the damaged vein and absorbs it, ultimately eliminating the problem vein. No pre-treatment patient preparation is needed and most patients describe minimal discomfort. After treatment patients resume normal activities, but are asked to avoid prolonged sitting and standing for 3 days and heavy exercise (weight lifting, running and high impact aerobics) for one week. Laser Therapy
Current technology provides us with the ability to treat both facial and leg veins with laser energy. This is a safe, quick, and generally effective form of therapy that involves no down time for the patient. The treatment is quite effective for facial veins. It is also effective for selected individuals with certain types of leg vein problems. Side effects and complications in general are quite minimal.
